Ruth Axelrod and Lois Graff


Lois Graff is Director of The George Washington University School of Business and Public Management Institute on Entrepreneurial Leadership for Women and an Associate Professor of Management Science. She served for eight years as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Business Programs creating innovative programming for college students. Dr. Graff received her MS and Ph.D. in Operations Research from New York University School of Engineering and Science and later returned to school to earn an Executive MBA from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She has authored four books and numerous publications, developed and delivered training for numerous clients, and is a frequent conference speaker.

Lois served on the host committee of the Women's Economic Summit, 1998. She chairs the Selected Professions Panel of the American Association of University Women for 1997-99. She was recently selected as a member of Leadership America, class of 1999.


Nina McGarry has nearly 20 years experience as a Business Manager. She began her career as an entrepreneur creating, presenting, recruiting for a microcomputer training center. Clients included the public and private sector. She has consulted to large organizations, such as Litton/PRC and the United States Postal Service, on organizational development issues. Ms. McGarry teaches at The George Washington University.


Ruth H. Axelrod is a faculty member in Organizational Behavior and Development at The George Washington University School of Business and Public Management. She has a master's degree in business administration and more than 15 years experience as a manager and consultant to organizations large and small. She is currently conducting research in leadership development including a study of the needs and learning styles of women entrepreneurs.


Juanita Weaver serves as Training Director for the GW Institute on Entrepreneurial Leadership for Women. Juanita is a creativity consultant who has worked with private companies, government agencies, and inner city children. After 18 years at the Small Business Administration she launched her own business in 1997. She is featured in the cover story on creativity in the October 1997 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine. During her tenure at the SBA she served in several capacities. She was the Director of Media Services and later served as Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Office of Women's Business Ownership. Her last position was as Director of Special Projects where she was responsible for initiating public/private sector joint ventures. For the past four years she has taught improvisation and meditation to 9 to 12 year olds at the Harriet Tubman school in the District of Columbia. Ms. Weaver has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Marymount College and a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from the American University. She also studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science.


Ginna Gemmel is President of GlidePath, Inc., an Alexandria, Virginia firm that works with entrepreneurs. Ginna serves as a coach to businesspeople on the path to starting or growing their businesses. Over the past few years, she has guided more than 30 companies to success.


Laura Birou is Assistant Professor at the GW School of Business and Public Management. Her professional expertise is in the area of production and logistics management.
