Although we are going international for Annual, don't worry about getting your materials into Canada. Why? Because we've got it covered. As we get closer
to the conference, you will receive more detailed information. For now here are some simple guidelines to remember and share.
- The DMA has hired a customs broker, Mendelssohn Commercial, (e-mail dkeddy@mend.com), to handle all of the customs issues that arise for all shipments that are related to the conference. More details relating to this will come, but it will be important to make the association's shipment and not ship independently.
- If you have boxes to be hand carried into Canada, there is a letter that will be made available that will ease the process of bringing the paper goods into Canada.
- Do not ship UPS into Canada. They are not bonded and boxes have to be personally retrieved from a warehouse.
- Do not tell customs that you are going to Canada to do "work". Instead tell them you are attending a conference. They don't want anyone taking jobs that could be done by Canadians.
- Plan to have your original birth certificate with the raised seal (not the one with the feet) or passport. Driver's license will not do!
