"Failure: The Key to Success"
Sergio Zyman
Wednesday, September 23
11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Individuals and organizations that don't fail aren't taking enough chances. Nobody can be right all the time and big companies didn't become big by "playing it safe." So goes the cover story in Fortune magazine:

"Sergio Zyman was the marketing man behind the most disastrous product launch since the Edsel...New Coke." Yet Zyman was recently re-hired by Coke and placed in charge of Global Marketing. Coca-Cola CEO Roberto Goizueta explains, "We became uncompetitive by not being tolerant of mistakes. The moment you let avoiding failure become your motivator, you're down the path of inactivity. You can only stumble if you are moving."

Legendary marketing genius Sergio Zyman is considered one of the great business leaders of our time. He has an unmatched understanding of today's vital business issues: change, globalization, marketing, business strategy, success and failure. Until April l998, Zyman was head of global marketing for The Coca-Cola Company, the world's largest beverage company. He oversaw the development and introduction of Diet Coke and New Coke, and was a major contributor to the extraordinary growth of Coca-Cola over the past 5 years, causing the company to be named consistently among the world's most admired companies. Coca-Cola has one of the world's largest distribution systems, and consumers in nearly 200 countries enjoy the company's products at a rate of more than 1 billion servings each day. Zyman's dynamic "Always Coca-Cola" leadership brought distinction to the Coke brand and contributed significantly to the company's earnings.
